Long time no see!!

Hello everyone!

Its been a long time since my last post and I apologize for that. This year has been a busy one for sure, between bluegrass, studying and shooting, I haven’t had many days off. I’m not complaining, I like being busy.

Shooting has become a big thing in my life. I’m shooting Rimfire and 3-gun as well as a few USPSA matches here and there. I knew that shooting 3-gun would be a big step for me but I’ve enjoyed every minute of it. I’m still improving and I know I have a long way to go. I’ve also…

Welcome to the team

I’d like to welcome every freedom loving gun toting firearm owner to the team, the 2A team! I bounce around on the Internet and see lots of people harassing other people about the weapon of their choice. To me, that’s dumb! We are all on the same team, the second amendment team. I know everyone has an opinion on which gun is better, but keep a lid on it ,ok. I’ve read posts about Glocks, 1911’s,Kel-Tec,Hi-point,the list goes on and on and to someone they all suck!! Staaahp  it!! We are all fighting the…

Teach them well.

I have always been the kind of person that wanted to be helpful. I mean, really helpful, kind of like a helpy helperton. Shooting has given me the opportunity to teach people how to safely shoot guns and increase their overall enjoyment of the shooting sports. I take this responsibility very seriously and I am honored to help in any way I can. I was involved in a shooting demo this past weekend that involved introducing kids to rimfire target shooting at an indoor range.

The kids I taught this weekend…

It’s a major award!!!

Excuse the reference to the movie “A Christmas Story.

I’ve only been shooting competitively for about two years, and in that time I’ve won several state titles and several local match wins. The one thing that has eluded me was a High Lady overall trophy at a major match. That all changed this past weekend, I’ve heard from several people that the Alabama state rimfire match was a lot of fun and run very well, the facility was said to be amazing too. I had originally planned to attend the Iowa state match…

Post NRA meeting thoughts and ramblings.

I returned home from Nashville on the 13th of April and I’ve been thinking about it ever since I got home. First of all, I was blown away by the number of people that attended this years meeting, I have to say it was probably the safest place on earth for those 3 days. If you’ve never been to an NRA annual meeting I would suggest you go as soon as you can, you’ll be able to hold any gun you’ve ever wanted to hold and ask as many questions as you desire. I saw some amazing guns as well as a million other gun…

NRA road trip!!!

i can’t believe tomorrow is the big day, we are leaving for Nashville to attend the NRA annual meeting. It’s about an 8 hour drive from our farm to music city so we’ll have lots of time for every travel game known to man. I’ve packed and re packed a few times and I’m still not sure I have everything I need. I’m going to be involved with a photo shoot north of Nashville so I had to pack all of my guns as well as jerseys and several other competition items ( holster, mags, ammo). I’m not sure what to expect…

Rimfire season kicks off!!

Yesterday was my first rimfire match of the season and I had a great match. It’s always fun to get back to shooting in the spring because you get to see your friends that you most likely haven’t seen all winter. It’s nice to see who got new sponsors and who got new guns and gear too. I try to practice before the first match of the season but actually shooting at the match is the best way to knock off the dust, and dusty I was!!  I had some magazine trouble with my pistol but my new Volquartsen rifle ran…

Where’s my free stuff????

A lot of kids come to me and ask me how to get sponsors so I thought I’d write a little article about my views on sponsorship.

The title of this article is meant to be a joke, but I’ve been asked by many kids about getting “free stuff”. First of all, sponsors aren’t looking to give you free merchandise, they’re looking to see what you can do for them. By this I mean that you need to do as much or more for your sponsors than they do for you. When a company approaches me regarding sponsorship I like to think…

My thoughts on getting started shooting competitively.

I am asked by a lot of young girls about how to get started in shooting. Well, my short and sweet answer would be ” Just do it!! ” . The longer(ish) answer is to go and get someone you trust ( mom, dad, grandpa, grandma) to show you how to handle a firearm safely and proficiently. Once you understand how to handle a gun you should find the one that fits you the best. My hands are sort of small so I need a pistol with a smaller grip. I also like a lighter weight gun, you need to decide what you like best. I…

Summary

I enjoy writing and try to put as many of my thoughts as possible in this blog. I may talk about anything that I think might interest my audience, including my Bluegrass band, That Dalton Gang.
